GLBC Collaborates with Market Garden Brewery

Posted April 24, 2013

CLEVELAND, OH—April 19, 2013—Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) has partnered with neighboring Market Garden Brewery to produce three beers for a neighborhood event on May 10, 2013.

GLBC and Market Garden Brewery collaborated to create two different beers in their respective pub breweries: Market Garden Brewery developed an ESB called “2” and GLBC brewed an Altbier called “5”. The brewers then combined elements of both recipes for a third beer called “25th Street Pale Ale”, which they brewed in the GLBC Brewpub’s 7-barrel system.

On Friday, May 10, each brewery will serve its own beer on draft, and both will serve 25th Street Pale Ale, which will also be distributed exclusively to participating Ohio City bars and restaurants. Mary LaVenia, GLBC’s Public Relations Assistant notes, “The idea is to get people to hop from GLBC to Market Garden, and to other bars in the neighborhood so they can try the whole series in different settings.” The three beers will only be available on draft in Ohio City while supplies last.

Prior to the public release, neighborhood businesses will have a chance to preview all three beers at a private GLBC event meant to generate excitement and interest in the brewery’s 25th Anniversary Block Party, which will take place on September 6.

This is the first time that GLBC has brewed collaboratively with Market Garden Brewery. GLBC’s previous collaborations include Cellar Rats Brewery, Fulton Brewing, and the upcoming Class of ’88 collaboration with Deschutes Brewery. “We’re excited to collaborate with Market Garden,” says LaVenia. “We’re both invested in Ohio City’s success, and as we enter our 25th year, we’re working to strengthen our relationships with our neighbors.”
