Great Lakes Brewing Company Top Workplace in Northeast Ohio
GLBC Debuts at 28 on The Plain Dealer’s Top Workplaces List
Great Lakes Brewing Company ranked 28th amongst Midsize companies in “The Plain Dealer Top Workplaces” list, based on feedback from an employee survey administered by The Plain Dealer. According to The Plain Dealer, a Midsize company is comprised of 150-499 local employees.
237 Northeast Ohio companies participated in the program and 100 were selected, including Ohio’s original craft brewery, Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC). This marks GLBC’s first appearance on the Top Workplaces list.
Creating a positive, healthy, and productive work environment is part of Great Lakes Brewing Company’s “Triple Bottom Line” philosphy, which promotes social, environmental, and fiscal sustainability. The social bottom line in this equation begins with GLBC’s employees, who receive a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Last year GLBC conducted a benefits analysis which lead to a revamped benefits package for its employees. The improved benefits include increased profit sharing and vacation time. A new incentive-based wellness program was also introduced; now employees can track verified workouts and take wellness assessments to earn points which can be used as “bucks” in an online mall.
Human Resources Manager Michelle Belviso observes that this investment has positively affected GLBC’s employees. She notes, “Employee satisfaction has increased, which leads to better engagement, retention, and help in attracting top-notch staff.”
GLBC stands out as a dynamic organization experiencing rapid growth in a tense economic climate. The brewery continues to expand and create new positions, in addition to offering internal promotions within the Brewery, offices, and Brewpub.
