The Germans knew long ago that lagers benefited from the heartier flavor of smoked malts, but American craft brewers have only recently started experimenting with these malts in ales. While some brews take on woody flavors, Big Black Smoke offers a more meaty smoke flavor, and the lingering question as to whether or not your bartender snuck a strip of bacon in your pint. Named by brewer Luke, after the Kinks song of the same name.
