Sold Out! Hop College: Barrel Aged Beers

Experience some of GLBC's rarest beer offerings, and learn about the barrel aging process that makes these beers so special.

Due to popular demand, a second session of this class has been added!

Expand your beer knowledge at a very special Hop College class featuring a few of Great Lakes Brewing Co.'s barrel aged beers! Join us as we crack open the history and sensory characteristics of our most special concoctions, and taste these beers that highlight the beauty of the barrel.

Enroll in Hop College: Barrel Aged Beers, where Justin Michalovic, GLBC's barrel program director, and Certified Cicerone®️ beer educators will help you tap into a deeper understanding of some of our favorite cellar pulls through a guided tasting, including sensory analysis, a rundown of the barrel aging process, the stories behind GLBC's barrel aged beers, and more! There won’t be any textbooks, but we will have plenty of beer to help enhance your learning, including:

2021 Barrel Aged Christmas Ale - aged in Buffalo Trace barrels

2018 Barrel Aged Blackout Stout - aged in Buffalo Trace barrels

2016 Barrel Aged Rackhouse - aged in Heaven Hill barrels

2016 Barrel Aged Tripel Dog Dare - aged in Four Roses barrels

Each Class Admission ticket will include one 7 oz. pour of each beer! Students who enroll will receive a special Hop College snifter glass, pictured below. Add-on tickets are also available for an exclusive Hop College notebook and GLBC pen, pictured below the snifter glass.

Graduate at the bottom of your glass at Hop College, where our taproom is your classroom!
