GLBC Announces Sumerian Beer Dinner in Chicago
Interactive Event to be Held at Chicago's Fountainhead

August 9, 2013—CLEVELAND, OHIO—Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) announces a historic beer dinner 4,000 years in the making. For the past year, our brewers and archaeologists at the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute have attempted to create an authentic version of an ancient Sumerian ale without the aid of modern brewing equipment.

On August 26 we will present this Sumerian beer at an educational and interactive event held at Chicago’s Fountainhead. Ticket-holders will gain admission to a VIP reception on Fountainhead’s roof, where GLBC Co-Owner Patrick Conway and Oriental Institute archaeologist Tate Paulette will give a lecture on their Sumerian beer project. Following the lecture, guests will enjoy a family-style Sumerian-inspired feast prepared by Fountainhead Chef Cleetus Friedman. A Q&A session will follow the dinner, and guests will have the opportunity to view the ceramic vessels and tools utilized in the brewing process.

This is the second of GLBC’s Sumerian Beer Project events; the first, an August 14 Sumerian beer dinner and lecture at GLBC’s Tasting Room in Cleveland, is sold out. Future Sumerian Beer Project events will be posted at
