GLBC Lagers Win at 2011 World Beer Championships

Great Lakes Brewing Company Lagers Score at 2011 World Beer Championships
Dortmunder Gold, Eliot Ness and Oktoberfest Secure Gold Medals

December 1, 2011—CLEVELAND, OHIO—Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC), Ohio’s most celebrated craft brewer of award-winning lagers and ales, announces that its Dortmunder Gold Lager, Eliot Ness Amber Lager and Oktoberfest scored gold medals in their individual categories at the 2011 World Beer Championships conducted by the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago.  Dortmunder Gold, available year-round, scored 93 Points for a rating of “Exceptional” and secured the #1 ranking in its category “Dortmunder”.  Eliot Ness, another year-round, also scored 93 Points for a rating of “Exceptional” and secured the #1 ranking in its category “Amber Lager”.  Oktoberfest, a seasonal, scored 91 Points for a rating of “Exceptional” in the “Vienna Marzen” category (click on the “Points” for judging remarks).

Since GLBC’s inception in 1988, these three beers have garnered 26 gold medals collectively at the World Beer Championships, with Dortmunder Gold achieving “World Champion” status 4 times!  The World Beer Championships are considered one of the top beer judging events in the craft beer industry.
