Early on a cold, rainy morning, I found myself loading into a caravan stuffed with 16 of my fellow co-workers. Sitting next to me was Eric Voshall. Eric typically spends his days on the GLBC bottling line, but today he was heading out to be part of a different kind of assembly line: packing lunches at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank for children who rely on the food bank and its volunteers in order to get regular, healthy meals.
Eric’s day-to-day duties at GLBC may include making sure that no bottle of Dortmunder leaves the brewery empty, but today he was dedicated to helping ensure no child in Cleveland goes without a lunch. His time at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank would be one of many service projects GLBC has dedicated itself to during our Month of Service.
Month of Service allows us to share our passion for giving back to the communities we serve. Our Cleveland initiative alone has six different volunteer opportunities for our employees to participate in, while our sales team has planned an additional 14 service projects in their communities. After each service project is completed, each organization will receive a $2,500 donation to continue the great work that they do year-round.
GLBC is also dedicated to supporting the organizations our employees volunteer with outside of work. When Jennifer Gusik isn’t serving in the brewpub, you’ll find her volunteering every Monday at the Parma Animal Shelter. We want our employees to know we support their passion for giving back, which is why organizations like Jennifer’s are eligible to be entered into a drawing during to win a $2,500 donation this April.
We’re now two weeks into our Month of Service initiative and we’re having a blast! Whether we’re making sustainable dog toys for the Cleveland Animal Protective League or doing a river clean-up in Cambridge, WI, seeing our employees as passionate about their community as they are for making great beer has been awesome.
There’s still time to join us for our Month of Service. To find out how you can get involved, click here.
