June 22, 2017 marks 48 years since the infamous fire on the Cuyahoga River. Beer is 90% water, and with 21% of the world's fresh water supply in our backyard, we at Great Lakes Brewing Co. are 100% committed to protecting, conserving, and restoring our waterways. Whether it's through our Brewing Good initiatives or donating proceeds from the Great Lakes Burning River Fest to local non-profits, we are dedicated to brewing beer that will ignite your taste buds (and not our rivers). So this Thursday, we hope you'll raise a glass to remember who we were as a society, celebrate how far we've come, and toast to a brighter future for our waterways.
To mark the occasion, $1 from every Burning River Pale Ale pint sold in the brewpub on June 22 will be donated to the Burning River Foundation. The brewpub will also be offering a smoked beef brisket platter and smoked short rib burger specials, $6 Burning River crowlers, and 20% off Burning River merchandise in the Gift Shop.
Can't make it on Thursday? Join us in the brewery Tasting Room on Wednesday, June 21 for an evening with David Stradling, co-author of Where the River Burned: Carl Stokes and the Struggle to Save Cleveland.
We hope to see you at the brewpub! Cheers!
