Hop College: Beer 101

The taps are on, the beer is pouring, and class is back in session – virtually! Expand your beer knowledge from the comfort of your home at Hop College: Beer 101.

Students who enroll in Hop College: Beer 101 will head to the virtual “classroom” where GLBC Cicerone certified Beer Educators crack open the story of beer – where it came from, how it’s made, and the best way to taste it. Our Beer Educators will help you tap into a deeper understanding of craft beer the GLBC way, by taking a look at our brewery, history, and philosophy. There won’t be any textbooks, but we will have plenty of beer to help enhance your learning. We will be studying:

Dortmunder Gold Lager
Eliot Ness Amber Lager
Commodore Perry IPA
Burning River Pale Ale
Edmund Fitzgerald Porter

Each General Admission ticket will include one 12 oz. can or bottle of each beer, so feel free to have a study buddy join you! Students who participate in this class will receive a special Hop College branded nonic glass and official beer nerd bragging rights. Feeling like adding on some extracurriculars? We have beer to-go available at the brewpub! Just show your ticket confirmation at the Gift Shop when you come to pick up study beers for $1 off one 32 oz. crowler fill!

Graduate at the bottom of your glass at Hop College, where our virtual taproom is your classroom!
