Public Brewery Tour

Welcome to Great Lakes - let our employee-owners show you around! Go behind the scenes of Ohio’s original craft brewery with a public brewery tour. Guests will grab their first taste of our award-winning beer in the Beer Symposium before venturing into the production facility for an up close and personal look at how that wonderful liquid is brewed, cellared, and packaged!
Our knowledgeable (and super friendly) tour guides will guide you each step of the way with an in-depth look at our history, brewing processes, and more. Tours last approximately 60 minutes and include four 5 oz. beer samples and a souvenir pint glass to take home! The Fine Print Choose your tour date and time carefully! Cleveland Brewing History Tours

Welcome to Great Lakes - let our employee-owners show you around! Take a walk through the history of brewing in Cleveland (literally!) by exploring the storied buildings of GLBC’s brewing campus. Immerse yourself in Cleveland brewing lore while learning about the 19th century taverns that now comprise our brewpub, the majestic Schlather Brewing Co. facility that houses our production brewery, and more. Tours last approximately 60 minutes and include four 5 oz. beer samples and a souvenir pint glass to take home!

VIP Experience Brewery Tour

Want to dive even deeper into the wonderful world of brewing at Ohio’s original craft brewery? Go beyond the beer with a Brewery Exclusive Experience. Nerd out with behind-the-scenes access to our sensory lab, and taste limited and small-batch brews you won’t find anywhere else—just like the pros do!

Guests will grab their first taste of our carefully crafted beer in our Beer Symposium before venturing into the production facility for an up-close look at our brewing, cellaring, and packaging processes. Then it really gets good. Get a personal tour of our sensory lab with our Sensory Specialist and Advanced Cicerone®, and put your tastebuds to the test with samples of beer straight from our fermenter, beer at different stages of its life, and limited or small-batch brews you won’t find on tap anywhere else! Tours last approximately 90 minutes and include a tasting of three beer samples in the Sensory lab, three beer tokens for samples of your choice in our Beer Symposium, and a souvenir glass to take home!

Expand your beer knowledge at our Beer 101 Hop College Class. Learn from GLBC's Cicerone-certified educators about the story of beer: where it came from, how it’s made, and the best way to taste it. Tap into a deeper understanding of craft brewing the GLBC way by looking at our brewery, history, and philosophy.

Most importantly, enhance your learning through a guided tasting of GLBC brews!

Each enrollment includes one 5 oz. pour of each beer, the guided tasting, and a Hop College nonic pint glass and notebook (both pictured below). Beer 101 also includes a tour of the brewery for an up close and personal look at how our delicious beer is brewed, cellared, and packaged.

HALFWAY TO HALLOWEEN TOURS

On these special Halloween Brewery Tours, join one of our tour guides for a tour through our iconic brewpub buildings, all with a beer in hand. Explore the history of these buildings that now make up our brewpub and hear the stories of the ghosts that still haunt them (along with some spooky Cleveland tales). Tours last approximately 45-60 minutes, and include your first beer in the pub, plus a tour pint glass to take home!

Tours will meet in the Gift Shop for check-in before venturing into the brewpub to grab your first beer and explore our 19th century historic buildings with your tour guide.

Hop College

The taps are on, the beer is pouring, and class is back in session! Learn all about craft beer the Great Lakes way as Cicerone® certified staff crack open the story of beer – where it came from, how it’s made, and the best way to taste it (and what to taste it with!) Students who complete Hop College Classes will leave with a special Hop College branded glass specific to each class. Guests must be 21 or older with a valid ID to attend.
